Sales Associate
The Sales Associate is responsible for welcoming customers, identifying their needs, recommending suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) and related products, processing sales accurately, and delivering efficient customer service. The role includes operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, handling payments, issuing receipts, assisting with stock and merchandising, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organised retail environment
Key Responsibilities
The Sales Associate is responsible for welcoming customers, identifying their needs, recommending suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) and related products, processing sales accurately, and delivering efficient customer service. The role includes operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, handling payments, issuing receipts, assisting with stock and merchandising, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organised retail environment
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers promptly and provide courteous, attentive service throughout their visit.
- Ask appropriate questions to understand customer needs and recommend suitable PPE, sizes, product options, and related accessories.
- Explain product features, care, correct use, pricing, promotions, and availability accurately.
- Process cash, card, and other approved payments accurately using the POS system.
- Issue receipts, prepare invoices where required, and follow established procedures for returns, exchanges, discounts, and refunds.
- Maintain responsibility for the cash drawer, complete opening and closing checks, and report any discrepancies promptly.
- Receive, count, label, and display merchandise; replenish shelves and report low-stock, damaged, or missing items.
- Keep product displays, counters, fitting areas, and the sales floor clean, orderly, and safe.
- Respond to customer questions and concerns professionally, escalating complex matters to the supervisor when necessary.
- Assist with telephone and electronic enquiries, quotations, order preparation, and customer collection arrangements as assigned.
- Follow company policies for customer service, cash handling, inventory control, loss prevention, health and safety, and confidentiality.
- Secondary school education with passes in English and Mathematics; additional training in customer service, sales, or cashiering is an asset.
- Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, cashiering, or a similar customer-facing role is preferred
- Experience handling cash and card payments and using a POS system is an advantage
- Knowledge of PPE, safety products, hardware, uniforms, footwear, or related retail products is an asset; product training will be provided.
- Ability to work the store’s scheduled hours, including Saturdays or extended hours when required.
- Friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach
- Clear verbal communication, active listening, and practical selling skills.
- Accuracy and integrity when handling money, processing transactions, and maintaining records.
- Ability to learn PPE product features, sizing, applications, and basic safety considerations
- Good numeracy, attention to detail, and basic computer skills.
- Ability to organise tasks, maintain displays, and work effectively during busy periods.
- Dependable, punctual, team-oriented, and willing to assist with reasonable store duties.
